Midwest Uprising

As more and more Islamist extremists began to gather throughout the Midwest and preach their Jihad the Muslim communities began to expand, greatly increasing the number of Mosques.

Extremist Imams began preaching Jihad with greater fervor and protesting the US government and laws.  The Imams sought to find more extremists to support attacks within the cities in the US, especially within the Chicago, Detroit, and Dearborn Michigan (Dearbornistan) areas.

Unrest grew to a boiling point resulting in a coordinated attack against multiple Jewish Synagogues throughout Chicago.  At 7:00pm on a Friday night in May, multiple VBIEDs were detonated at eight Synagogues in the Chicago area at the height of the Friday night Shabbat services.  The devastation and body count was tremendous. Law enforcement response was hesitant as they were unsure of where to start, given the extent and random nature of the destruction. 

As Law Enforcement agencies scrambled to find the perpetrators, finger pointing quickly led to allegations that the Islamic extremists were to blame. Determining which ones proved to be extremely difficult as there were many communities and they had grown to become more of an enclave of the size to encompass entire neighborhood areas of Chicago such as Albany Park, Edgewater, Evanston, and Gresham had mostly become little cities of their own.

Law Enforcement was unable to pinpoint any single attack on an individual; however a group that called itself MotA (Muslims of the Americas) had taken responsibility for the bombings.  The FBI became aware of this group back in the late 1990s, but had been unable to trace the recent attacks to any one particular enclave in the Chicago area.

As time went by, attacks became more frequent and the focus began to drift away from attacks on Jewish Synagogues to both federal, state, and city buildings.   The Muslim enclaves continued to grow to the extent that local law enforcement did not have the manpower or the equipment to police these areas.  At this point the Governor of Illinois sought to employ the National Guard but the Guard has been stretched thin with so much happening and their ranks depleted as the US force has called many of them to active service.  With nowhere else to turn the Governor passed a new law authorizing the creation of several volunteer state militias and assigning them the tasks of patrolling and policing all of the new Muslim Enclaves within the state of Illinois.

As unrest grew to the point of violence in the Detroit area, the Governor of Michigan enacted laws mimicking those of Illinois and empowering state militias to keep control of the peace throughout its own Muslim Enclaves.

Meanwhile in Illinois several state militias began to take over their newly empowered duties of keeping peace within these enclaves.  The largest of these Militias was the Illinois Sons of Liberty, otherwise known as the ISoL.  Their Bravo Company 2/N Division took over responsibility for the whole North Eastern portion of Illinois including the Chicago land area.  The ISoL are the best trained and equipped militia in IL and have even purchased outdated military vehicles including HMMWV’s and even some LAV’s.  They wear body armor and have some heavier weapons including SAW’s and some grenade launchers.

 Other militias include the Paladins which are a Christian based group that operates in the northern and central part of the state.  They are considered religious zealots and are not very well equipped or trained but they members are numerous. Central Illinois also has the Midwest Patriot Militia of Illinois, and while their membership is smaller than the Paladins they are considered well trained but do not include any heavy weapons.
